About Me

Hi, I'm April.
As I write this on 2/24/11, I'm 38, single, and about to embark on trying to have a baby on my own. I have a wonderful support network, the resources to do this and I am ready. Here we go... Ho. Lee. Crap.

I can do it.

Timeline:

January 2011
Get this crazy idea to look into getting pregnant on my own using a sperm donor.

Jan-Feb. 2011
Think about not much else but this crazy idea in an effort to decide if it's something I really can and want to do. Even though in reality it's been decided since it first clicked.

February 28, 2011
See my regular doctor, find out I'm perfectly healthy and she thinks it's a great idea, get referral to fertility center.

March 16, 2011
First appointment with this becoming reality - a fertility doctor.

Early April, 2011
A bunch of tests to make sure I can get pregnant, including an HSG (which kind of sucked). Got the all clear, just waiting on ovulation!

My first IUI

May 21, 2011
Confirmation that my first IUI was unsuccessful. Goddamn AF.

Some stuff about me:

I'm a designer and artist and I live in New England. I have a brother (and sister-in-law) and sister (and boyfriend-in-law [that sounds weird]), and they each have a child who I am crazy in love with. I've very close with both them and my parents, and my extended family - I have an amazing, loving support system that is going to FREAK. OUT. (with happiness) when they hear about this BMP (baby makin plan) So far I've only told my mom, sister and 2 close friends.

Also, I write parenthetically A LOT. And swear, sometimes.
